Frequently Asked Questions

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes, we would be happy to welcome you to our dental family.

What should I expect on my first visit?

Your overall health is very important. Therefore we review a full health history, which includes allergies, current medical condition(s), and medicines you may be taking.

Current x-rays will be taken for us to accurately diagnose your appropriate dental needs. Before your visit with us, we request you have your previous dental records transferred, especially x-rays.

Our goal is to provide you with a thorough examination which includes soft tissue exam with periodontal measurements, oral cancer screening, and a complete evaluation of the teeth.

Do you treat children?

Yes, both the American Pediatric and Children’s Dental Association recommend that children have their first examination by the age of 1.

When can I get an appointment?

Our office hours are Monday thru Thursday 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM. Please call us at 607-273-5940 to schedule a convenient time.

I want a dentist who explains things clearly. What is your approach?

We believe patients should fully understand their oral health and treatment choices. We take time to answer questions, explain findings in plain language, and help you make informed decisions without pressure.

What if I have a complex dental issue?

We provide comprehensive care and also value collaboration. When a specialist is the best option, we make referrals thoughtfully so you receive the right care for your situation.

I have health concerns and want extra precautions. Do you offer accommodations?

Yes. We offer special considerations for immune-compromised patients and work with individuals who need a more carefully managed visit environment.

How does laser dentistry work, and what procedures use it?

The practice uses the Spectrolase Diode Laser (980 nm), a precise instrument with a fiber diameter of 400 microns (0.4 mm / ~0.016 inches) that removes very small, controlled amounts of gum tissue. Current uses include:

  • Crown impressions: By gently reshaping gum tissue at crown margins, the laser helps ensure excellent-fitting crowns.
  • Root surface decay access: The laser can remove small amounts of gum tissue that may be covering or blocking decay that has extended onto the root surface.
  • Oral lesion biopsies: Lesions of the mouth can be biopsied using the laser, with the added benefit of no bleeding, since the laser cuts and cauterizes simultaneously.

These are just a few of the ways dental laser technology is advancing treatment at the practice.
